SA: Bureau of Air Safety investigates fatal plane crash
The Bureau of Air Safety will this morning begin investigating the scene of yesterday's
fatal plane crash at a small Adelaide aerodrome.
Two Perth men flying to a Victorian airshow were killed when their home-built plane crashed
just after take-off.
One of the men was in his 70s from Mount Pleasant and the other in his 50s from Kelmscott.
They took off from the Aldinga aerodrome, south of Adelaide, in their single-engine
two-seater Lancair about 7.40am, after staying overnight at Aldinga.
Witnesses say the plane appeared to lose power shortly after take-off and spiralled
nose-first into a creek about four kilometres north-east of the aerodrome.
Police say the men were killed instantly.
Two Bureau of Air Safety investigators arrived in Adelaide late yesterday and will study
the scene today.
