NSW: $4 million lotto winner claims prize
SYDNEY, Aug 24 AAP - A businessman from western Sydney got the shock of his life today
when he discovered he was the winner of this week's unclaimed OZ Lotto $4 million jackpot.
The 51-year-old walked into his local newsagent in the western suburb of Castle Hill
this morning to check his ticket and buy an entry for next week.
He said he had been unaware of his luck because he always missed the draw.
"I'm a fatalist and think if I'm meant to win, I'm meant to win, so I never watch the
OZ Lotto draw," he said.
"I handed the entry over the counter to check if I'd won anything and afterwards, the
staff gave me a surprised look - and that's when I discovered I'd won $4 million."
The winner, whose name has not been released, said he planned to use the money to pay
off his home loan, help out his three grown-up children, take a holiday to the US and
Europe with his wife, and to invest in rental properties.
