`GEORGE' UPS COVER PRICE FOR JFK JR. TRIBUTE: PRESS RUN HIKED FOR OCTOBER BUT TITLE'S FUTURE IS STILL UNCLEAR.

Readers who pick up the October issue of George at the newsstand are in for sticker shock. Hachette Filipacchi Magazines will raise the price of the issue dedicated to its late editor in chief, John F. Kennedy Jr., 68% to $4.95.

``We've increased the number of editorial pages specifically to honor John,'' said Jack Kliger, Hachette president-CEO.

Company executives believe the issue, due out in late September, will be a big seller. Plans are to more than double the number of copies sent to newsstands. The normal run of 600,000 copies will rise to 1 million copies for October, Mr. Kliger confirmed.
